Dr. Kirkpatrick is Professor, Psychiatric Research Institute, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He co-chaired the NIMH-sponsored Consensus Development Conference on Negative Symptoms, and served as Associate Editor of Clinical Schizophrenia and Related Psychoses, and on the Editorial Board of Schizophrenia Bulletin. He has been funded by the Scottish Rite Foundation, the Brain & Behavior Foundation (formerly NARSAD), the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. He received his MD from the University of Texas, then completed residency, research fellowships, and a master’s in epidemiology at the University of North Carolina. He was on the faculty of the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, and was Chair of departments of psychiatry at Texas A&M University and the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.
